Women’s Reproductive Health as a Cornerstone for Development

Recognizing two occasions in March, International Women's Day on March 8 and Mothers Day on March 21, through the combined efforts of Rotary District 2451 Egypt committee for Health and committee for Child and Maternal Health and Rotary clubs, 6 October Shams, Kasr El Nil and Cairo Royal shared in a joint meeting for the important seminar aptly named Women's Reproductive Health as a corner stone for development . The valued presentations were : Assisted Reproduction, Newborn Health and Nutrition by our member Dr. Hala Zidan, Criminal Female Genital Mutilation, Diabetes and Pregnancy.

The Proactive Mind Talk by Khaled El Shamaa

Khaled El Shamaa emphasises the importance of planning for a way out of crises. Crises would include situations like a fire in a home, hotel or a theater, a flat tire on the highway, a medical emergency in an unfamiliar place, and other things that, if prepared for, could pass, but if not would lead to paying a heavy price, lives lost. From this presentation, we came out convinced that we cannot let ourselves react to situations only , but we have to process ahead what we need to do to save ourselves and our loved ones.

Service Above Self Award to PDG Mohamed Delawar

It was just announced that 6 October Shams member, PDG Mohamed Delawar has been awarded Rotary International "Service above self award". According to RI definition it is: Rotary's highest honor recognition given to Rotarians who demonstrate commitment to helping others by volunteering their time and talents". No more than 150 Rotarians can receive this award annually.s

District Governor Hamada Zahran’s Visit to our club

We were honored to have our District Governor Hamada Zahran join us to review our services and future plans. Thanks to our club president Kamel Sallam for the delightful presentation showing the diverse club activities serving the community, thanks to our DG Hamada Zahran for his appreciated motivating comments and the friendly valuable advice , thanks to our Honorary Secretary Sohaila Seaudy and all the members of Shams October for being together and giving of their time and expertise to make a difference.

Rotarians are one family all over the world

Our member Hala Abou Youssef, when in Toronto, Canada visited Rotary Club Whitby Sunrise which is comprised of 85 members, 25 of whom are women. Their service projects are within the community and internationally in the Dominican Republic, Laos and Taiwan. Members travel to the global projects they undertake and stay there for some weeks to serve and when they return another group travels.
They concentrate on water and sanitation projects and solar panels for houses.
Currently they are serving in Dominican Republic. Rotary brings together people from all over the world who have many things in common and among which is their dedication to serving humanity.

Presidential Citation and EREY Award to RC 6 October Shams

In recognition of its continuous service to humanity, our club RC 6 October Shams was awarded the Rotary International Presidential Citation and the Rotary Foundation EREY award for contributions that exceeded the goal. That was during the Secretaries and Presidents meeting hosted by RC Heliopolis Al Shorouk on and attended by PDG Mayan Raslan and DG Hamada Zahran. Good job as always Shams October

Pinning ceremony for 10 Interact members

We enjoyed the presentation of son and daughters :Omar Fayad, Nour Radwan, the interact President for the current year Donia Bekeer, and the young Brazilian doctor Lowana sharing their experience for youth and new generation exchange organized by Rotary. Proudly we celebrated the pinning of 10 interactors who showed great enthusiasm to serve the community and humanity.Thanks to our active member Mai Mandour for this much appreciated activity and valuable addition to our club .

Pre PETS or President Elect Training seminar

To prepare next year's Rotary club presidents and Honorary Secretaries who will lead their clubs and carry the heavy responsibility of fulfilling its proposed plans for service to humanity, the pre PETS or President Elect Training seminar. Our president Elect Rasha El Kassas and our Honorary Secretary elect Maha El Shalakany attended this seminar as did all the club presidents for 2018/2019 and District 2451 Governor Elect Abd El Hamid El Awwa
