Virus C project in Palm Hills Compound Memorandum of Understanding signing

We are pleased to announce the launch of our project "Palm Hills Free of Virus C", a Rotary initiative supported by Rotary Palm Hills and Rotary Shams October. The launch builds on the framework protocols signed between Rotary and each of Palm Hills Development Company and with Kasr Al Aini Hospital. This model of successful cooperation between the private corporate sector, public sector service providers, civil society organisations and Rotary is a model we aspire to replicate in many of our projects and which we are confident will underpin the effectiveness of both the national campaign to eradicate Virus C and other endeavours in the sectors of health, education and provision of services to the most needy segments of the population.
The project aims in the first phase to screen all employees of Palm Hills Compound and provide treatment to those infected as well as their families. Rotary aspires to build on the success of the first phase to widen the scope to encompass screening for all residents through extension of lab equipment provided by Trust. Residents would sponsor domestic employees such that all residents of the compound will have been screened and treated by the end of the second phase. The ultimate larger goal is to replicate this model till the entire October 6 district is Virus C free. Given that many of the employees in Palm Hills are from Fayoum and Beni Suef (the poorest governorates) we believe the project will have a ripple effect in those areas building on the awareness engendered by the project.

Meeting at Palm Hills, Joint Project Virus C

First step in Shams October's participation in the long and arduous road to "Egypt Free of Virus C" project took place August 9 at Palm Hills in a friendly and fruitful meeting between Palm Hills Rotary Club and our club. This project is a joint effort between Shams October and Palm Hills Rotary club. The meeting was arranged after the signing of the MOU between Viral Hepatitis Patient Care Center at Kasr El Einy and Shams Rotary Club to screen workers at Palm Hills for HCV and offer treatment to positive cases. From our club Sohaila Seoudy, Sanaa Abdel Shafy, Sohaila Omar, Manal Bosseila, Dalida Nabil and Heba Reda attended. Sherif Barakat and Logaina Maamoun represented Palm Hills RC. The agenda that we agreed upon included an electronic signature of the MOU between Palm Hills Administration and Rotary. Logaina and Heba are to decide upon the site for screen-ing of personnel, obtaining their data from Palm Hills HR, presenting them with an awareness program and preparing the set up for sampling to perform screening as the first step in the project. Rotary District 2451 and Palm Hills corp are sponsoring this project together with our two clubs
