Rotary Club of 6th of October Shams

Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Caravan

The convoy went to the Sakout cultural center in Tafahna El Azab in Gharbeya Gover-norate to teach women to self examine for breast cancer and to screen them for the dis-ease. Some women were referred for free mammograms.

Interact Shams October

Members of the Interact club came up with some easy and budget-friendly ideas to make and sell at MLS bazaar, held on 10/11 March 2015. Home -made macaroni salad , bis-cuits , cookies and soft drinks were served and sold to raise money for future projects. The event was attended by members of RC Shams October and the school coordinator, Hend Bedier

A seminar on child nutrition was given to local mothers by our member and pediatrician Dr. Hala Zidan. After the session, milk was given to the attendees.

The Second Fun Day

The Fun Day by Rotary Shams October with the kids in Alawla Belreayh , 6th October City. Volunteers from the club members painted the faces of the young children. The children were given coloring pages and coloring crayons so they would enjoy coloring several pages that they later took home. At the end of the day, club members offered sweets, and fruits to the lovely kids in the area.

Cleaning and Greening of communal area of Al Awla Belre3aya 6 October City

Our club provided the tools needed for the cleanup and later provided the trees. Residents took part in the cleanup and in the tree planting and for each area, a volunteer from the resi-dents promised to water and care for the trees.

Blood Donation Drive at Shooting Club 6 October City

In cooperation with Nasser Hospital Center, club members manned a blood donation drive at the Shooting Club in 6th of October City. 87 blood bags were collected during the two day drive. Members also gave happily of their blood.

Medical Convoy to Al Awla Bel Re3aya

A medical convoy was initiated to the area including the specializations of dermatology, obstetrics, pediatry, due to there being no medical unit in the area. Over 1200 patients were seen and given the prescribed medicines.

Rotary Green Day

Environmental protection is most important and to instill this value in the children of the Al Awla Bel Re3aya area of 6 October City, the club initiated a clean and green day in which children from the area worked hand in hand with members to clean accumu-lated garbage and to plant trees. The kids were appreciated by sharing a healthy meal with them when the work was finished.

Rotary Fun Day for the children of Al Awla Belre3aya

To give the poor children of the area a good time, badly needed, club members ar-ranged for a fun day which included drawing and painting, face painting, dancing and singing to the tunes of a DJ and watching a clown and a magician perform. The kids had a great time and so did the Rotarians.

Blood Donation Drive at Arkan Mall

Members encouraged people in Arkan Mall to donate their blood to the Ministry of Health Blood Bank. Through these efforts 88 bags were collected.

Winter Warmth for outdoor night workers

Feeling for workers who work outdoors during the cold nights, members put together warmth packages including caps, scarves, gloves and socks. Members bought the bags and distributed them to those who would benefit from them. This was also a form of fundraising.

Nutrition Seminar at Al Awla Belre3aya

Doctors from our club gave an awareness session about proper mutrition for pregnant wom-en and children. The attendees showed appreciation and claimed that they had benefited from the sessions to learn how better to feed themselves and their children.
